“It’s been three years since Zim left. Tomorrow I start high school with Dib. He’s become such a jerk. Ever since Zim left Dib hasn’t been as insane, but now he’s hanging with the popular kids. He acts like I don’t even exist. Not that I care, but it does sometimes feel good to know that I have a brother that cares for me even when I don’t care back. It’s just been weird since Zim left with Gir.”  

Gaz sighed and put her journal down. She looked out the window at the edge of her bed. The sun was getting ready to set on the horizon.

Three years ago Zim had set off from Earth to destroy his leaders because they had lied to him about his mission. Over the years Dib had finally given up on aliens and focused on popularity because of peer pressure from others. Dib had made his way to being able to date all the cheer leaders in the middle school. Dib was always so busy he forgot about Gaz. He had never been the same since Zim left. Gaz had become smart enough to get bumped a grade into Dib’s grade.  

Gaz closed her journal and set it on the table next to her bed. She laid her head down and closed her eyes into a deep sleep. The next morning her alarm went off.  She groaned and pulled the covers over her face.

“GAZ! It’s time for school! Get up or I’ll have the robots come up and get you!” The professor yelled from downstairs.

“Fine,” Gaz grumbled as she got out of bed.

She got dressed into her black t-shirt and black short skirt that was almost too small for her. She put her skull necklace on and big black boots that went to her knees. She grabbed her Gameslave and back pack. She headed downstairs to get breakfast. The professor video came up to her and greeted her. She ignored it and went to go get some toast. Dib was at the table listening to his ipod. He was pretty much the same except for the growth. He was seven foot and Gaz was five foot.

“Hey Dib,” Gaz said trying to get her brother to acknowledge her.

Dib didn’t hear her and continued to listen to his ipod. He was head banging to a rock song. Gaz rolled her eyes and headed for the door followed by Dib who realized what time it was. They walked along not speaking to each other at all. Gaz was nervous about her first day at school. Dib on the other hand was perfectly calm. He was smiling and listening to his music.

They finally reached the school. It was HUGE! There were over a thousand of kids just outside. There were kids who were being dropped off by the bus, there were kids who used their own cars and there were kids who were being dropped off by their parents. Everything looked like a movie where the new kid had an embarrassing moment the first day of his first year and it haunted him all throughout senior year. It was some type of Disney movie that Gaz didn’t care about at the moment. She walked around looking at everything. Dib saw a few friends of his and went to them giving them high fives.

Gaz rolled her eyes and continued moving on. She walked down the halls to find her first class. Hopefully her teacher was nicer than the ones she had before. Like Miss. Bitters. Gaz looked at her schedule again. She bumped into this one girl who was wearing a cheerleader’s outfit.

“Hey! Watch it freshman!” The girl yelled pushing Gaz.

Gaz flailed and tried to gain her balance.

“Don’t you dare touch me again! Got that?” the girl yelled.

“I got that you have the brain the size of peanut,” Gaz mumbled under her breath trying to walk past the girl without causing trouble.

“What did you say!?” The girl asked standing in front of Gaz’s way.

“I said you sound like a very popular person,” Gaz said trying to kiss up to her and have her leave her alone.

“That’s not what you said! I heard well enough to know that isn’t what you said!” the girl shouted.

“Then what did I say pea brain!?” Gaz yelled at the girl.

“Hey Kate! Is this freshman bothering you!?” A big, bulky guy asked.

He was around 8 foot and was wearing a football jersey. He had bruises and scars all on his face. He had blond hair and big green eyes that looked like they were blood lust.

“Johnny. This girl is being mean to me. Make her stop,” Kate said giving him a puppy dog look.

Johnny cracked his knuckles. Gaz grew frightened at what the giant monster boy would do to her. Johnny grabbed a trash can and grabbed her. He shoved her but into it. She sat in the trash can. She tried to get out. Kate and Johnny were laughing along with several other football players and cheerleaders. Gaz continued to try to get out. Everyone in the halls was laughing at her. Gaz was totally embarrassed.

“My first day and something has already gone horribly wrong!” Gaz said trying to bury her face in her legs that hung out of the trash can.

After a few more attempts of trying to get out Johnny got bored.

“Let’s do something else now,” Johnny said grabbing the side of the trash can and putting it at the edge of a stair well.

Gaz’s eyes grew wide with fright.

“PUT THAT GIRL DOWN!” shouted a voice.

Johnny turned around to see who would challenge him. Gaz looked past Johnny’s big body to see the one person she thought would never stick up for her.
