Zim and Gaz finally got the school still holding hands. They looked over the school doors. There was the new sign that said “Valentine’s day dance tonight!” Zim looked over at Gaz. She continued looking at the sign. Gaz was shaking. She looked over at Zim. It had only been 5 minutes since they started there relationship. They didn’t know what to do. Zim swallowed hard and looked at the ground while blushing.

“Gaz….would…would you like to go to the dance with me?” Zim asked in a shaky voice.

Gaz stared at him in disbelief and excitement. She held his hand harder that she was before. She continued shaking. She took deep, shaky breaths. She looked at the ground. She wanted to say yes but her mouth wouldn’t work. Zim looked at her. His eyes had sadness in them. He let go of her hand.

“I knew I shouldn’t have asked!” he yelled at himself before running off to his class.

“Zim wait!  I didn’t say no!” Gaz yelled, but Zim didn’t hear her.

He kept running and running until he finally got to his class. He sat at his desk and put his head down. It felt good and cool on his head. Gaz walked in a minute later.

“Zim I-” she started to say before the bell rang.

“CLASS TAKE YOUR SEATS!” the teacher Miss. Miserable yelled to the students.

Gaz glared at the teacher wishing death upon her idiotic teacher. Gaz took her seat next to Zim. She looked at him with compassion. He wouldn’t look at her. He stared at his desk the whole time. Soon class was over and Zim bolted out the door. Gaz ran out to try to catch up to him.

“ZIM! WAIT!” Gaz shouted running after him.

Zim stopped and waited. His heart was racing. Gaz caught up to him while panting. Zim was scrunching up preparing for what he thought Gaz’s answer would be.

“Gaz I’m sorry that I asked. I knew I shouldn’t have I just-“

“Zim I don’t mind. I wanted to say yes, but I couldn’t,” Gaz said cutting him off.

“Why couldn’t you?” Zim asked standing up straight.

“My mouth wouldn’t work. I would love to go to the Valentine’s dance with you,” She said walking up to him and putting her arms around his neck.

Zim’s face gave a wide smile. Gaz let go of his neck and fished through her pocket. She pulled out the rose he gave her before. Zim’s smile grew wider.

“I love you Zim,” She said hugging him again.

“I love you too,” Zim said hugging back.

Everyone stopped to look at them. Zim and Gaz were too wrapped up in there hug. The bell rang and everyone in the halls walked to their classes. Zim and Gaz walked hand in hand to their next class as well. Soon time went by and it was lunch. Gaz sat with Zim at his table since Dib wasn’t there. They talked about how dumb Dib was, how Zim became an invader and such. A time later a girl came up. She had blue eyes and long blond hair. She wore a white t-shirt with black pants.

“You two make a cute couple!” the girl gushed.

“Ummm…thank…you…” Gaz said slowly not sure why she would say that.

“You’re welcome!” the girl said before running back to her table.

“What was that all about?” Zim asked.

Gaz shrugged.

“I guess no one would ever guess that you and I would love anyone, let alone each other,” she said.

“I guess…” Zim said watching the girl talk with her friends all giggly and such.

After lunch school went by quickly. Zim and Gaz walked to Gaz’s locker.

“So when should I pick you up?” Zim asked.

“How about we just meet each other there,” Gaz said putting her books in her locker.

“Why?” Zim asked.

“Because if Dib saw you he would strangle you. That’s why,” Gaz said pulling her black back pack out of her locker.

“I don’t care! I’m picking you up whether Dib likes it or not!” he said crossing his arms.

Gaz gave a small chuckle.

“Fine. Pick me up at 7:00,” she said closing her locker.

“Is it formal? Do I need to wear a tux?” Zim asked.

“I don’t know….” Gaz said lowering her head.

Zim looked around and saw the girl that came up to them at lunch before. He tapped her on the shoulder.

“Yes?” the girl asked.

“Do you know whether the Valentine’s dance is formal or not?” Zim asked.

“Well of course I do! It’s formal! Everyone is required to wear a suit or dress!” the girl said happily.

“Oh great…” Zim said unhappily.

“Why?” the girl asked.

“I feel weird in tuxes,” Zim said.

“Oh well! See ya!” the girl said before rushing off.

Zim watched as she left.

“She’s kinda weird,” Zim said looking at Gaz.

Gaz nodded in agreement and started for the door. Zim followed her.

“So you still want to go?” Zim asked.

“Sure. Why not? I have nothing better to do than spend time with you,” Gaz said smiling at him.

Zim smiled back and started walking her home. They were a few blocks away from Gaz’s house when Gaz stopped.

“What’s wrong?” Zim asked, wondering why she stopped.

“If Dib sees us together it’s not going to be pretty, and I don’t want you beat up before the dance tonight,” She said putting her arms around him again.

“Ok then,” Zim said sadly.

Gaz kissed Zim quickly on the lips and then ran off to her house. Zim smiled and left for the base. Gaz entered her home to be seen by Dib sitting on the couch watching mysterious mysteries.

“Hey Gaz,” he said.

Gaz ignored him and ran upstairs to her room. She went to her closet. She started to go through it.

“Where is it!? Where is it!?” she asked franticly

She tried looking through it to find the dress she had gotten for a special occasion. She hoped it still fit.  After a while she finally found it.

“Ah ha!” she took it out.

It was a black dress. Her straps stopped at her shoulders. There were black, silk gloves that stopped at her elbows. The bottom was the pattern like a doily all around the edges. It went down to her ankles. She had shoes that matched. They were black with plastic red roses on them. The top had a red rose on the left shoulder. There were long black stockings along with it. It was the most beautiful dress in her eyes.

“What’s that for?” a voice asked.

Gaz jumped at the sound. She turned to see Dib standing in the door way.

“DIB! GET OUT OF MY ROOM!” Gaz shouted throwing a pillow at him.

Dib ducked away from the pillow. Gaz put the dress away as quickly as she could. Dib still saw enough to get the idea.

“You were asked to the dance tonight weren’t you?” Dib asked with a smirk.

Gaz blushed and nodded.

“By who?” Dib asked.

Gaz hesitated. She didn’t know what to say. She couldn’t tell him that Zim asked her.

“None of your business Dib! Now go away!” Gaz yelled before snapping her fingers.

All her dolls came to life. They started towards Dib with ferocious teeth and were foaming at the mouth.

“Oh crap!” Dib yelled before running for his life.

The dolls chased after him in hot pursuit. After a minute Gaz could hear Dib screaming in pain.

“Well now that that’s over I can get back to business,” She said before taking the dress again and examining it.

Meanwhile~~~~~~~

Zim walked into the house. Immediately he was tackled to the ground by a flash of green.

“Welcome home masta!” Gir shouted.

“Hello Gir. NOW GET OFF ME!” Zim yelled.

“Ok masta!” Gir said before getting off of him.

“Thank you,” Zim said while getting up.

“Yous welcome!” Gir said happily.

Zim started for the lab before Gir cut him off by jumping on Zim’s head.

“So did yous tell Gazzy!?” Gir asked excitedly.

“Yes Gir I told her,” Zim said smiling.

“And what did Gazzy say!?” Gir asked getting off of Zim’s head, landing on the floor with a bounce to his step as he pranced around Zim.

“Gaz loves me too,” Zim said watching Gir prance around.

“YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!” Gir shouted happily and running around the kitchen.

Zim laughed at his little robot. Normally Zim would be angered by Gir but today Zim was in a good mood and couldn’t help but laugh. Gir plopped onto Zim’s head and hugged him tightly.

“Come on Gir. I need to find a tux,” Zim said while laughing.

“A TUX MASTA!?” Gir yelled in surprise.

“Yes Gir. A tux,” Zim said.

“I can gives you tux thingy!” Gir said happily.

“Really!?” Zim asked also happy.

Gir nodded.

“Show me!” Zim said with a huge smile.

Gir grabbed Zim’s arm and drug him towards the shoot to the lab. They went down to what Zim called “Gir’s room”. It was the room Gir loved to be in the most. It was filled with piggys, tacos, cupcakes, and other stuff Gir loved. The room was blue and green. They walked in and Gir said some words into the computer. A big hand came down. The arm took measurements on Zim.

“Gir? What is this thing doing?” Zim asked.

“It seeing whats it needs to dos before it gives yous a tux!” Gir said happily.

“Really?” Zim asked getting a little tangled in the measuring tape.

Gir nodded. Finally the arm was done. A big sphere came around Zim and pushed him inside. There were a bunch of bright lights and smoke coming out of the cracks of the sphere.

“OW! Why does it hurt!?” Zim yelled as he was inside.

After a minute there was a ding. The sphere opened to see Zim standing there in his new tux. It had a black jacket that stopped before his bottom, it had long silk pants, and under the jacket there was a red dressy shirt. On his left shoulder there was a red, plastic rose. Zim eyes widened in surprise.

“GIR! This looks amazing!” Zim said running up to a body length mirror.

“I thoughts you woulds likes it masta!” Gir said happily.

“Now what do human males do for human females when they go to this dance or ‘prom’ as I’ve heard it’s also called?” Zim asked Gir.

“Dats easy! Dey gives dem pretty flowers! Like da one yous  gots on your jacket there!” Gir said pointing to the rose on Zim’s jacket.

“Flowers? Are you sure that’s what the males do?” Zim asked in case Gir was wrong, which he had been before.

Gir nodded happily.

“Where do I get these flowers?” Zim asked.

“I knows where dey can be founds!” Gir said.

“Well than can you get them? Here’s some money,” Zim asked while handing Gir some money.

“Of course I cans! PRETTYFUL FLOWERS HERE I COME!” Gir shouted before running out of the room.

“Sometimes I wonder what’s going on in that insane little head of his,” Zim thought out loud before heading back to the shoot.

6:55 pm~~~~~~~~~~

“GIR! WHERE ARE THOSE FLOWERS YOU PROMISED YOU WOULD GET FOR ME!?” Zim yelled.

“Deys right here masta!” Gir said happily handing Zim a dozen roses.

“Well it’s about time!” Zim said grabbing them, “I need to start off for Gaz’s house so I can pick her up,” He said heading for the door.

“One last thing masta!” Gir said popping in front of Zim’s face.

“What?” Zim asked getting impatient.

“Open mouth!” Gir said.

Zim looked at Gir with a face but opened his mouth any way. Gir sprayed some minty stuff into Zim’s mouth. Zim started to cough.

“What was that for!?” Zim shouted while gagging.

“It make your breath smell good for kissy faces!” Gir said happily.

“Ok then….” Zim said giving Gir a weird look.

“Go, go, go masta! It time for you to go pick Gazzy up!” Gir said pushing Zim towards the door.

“Darn Gir. I never knew you knew so much about human love,” Zim said.

“I watch a lot of soap operas! Although I don’t know why there called that. There’s no soap,” Gir said.

Zim rolled his eyes and headed out the door. He walked down the side walk straight for Gaz’s home.

Meanwhile~~~~~~~

“Well….how do I look? Be brutal. I don’t mind,” Gaz asked her older brother while in her dress.

“You don’t look like Michel Jackson,” Dib said laughing at his own joke while standing in Gaz’s doorway to her room.

“Is that big brother talk for ‘you look kinda nice’?” Gaz asked dib.

“You look awesome,” Dib said still smiling.

“Should I tell him?” Gaz asked in her head. “Nah! He’ll try to kill Zim if he found out, but even so Dib would see Zim when he comes to pick me up.” She thought. She sighed.

“What’s wrong? Nervous? I never thought I would see you like this before. Mind if I take a picture to commemorate the fact that you were nervous before your first date?” Dib asked holding up a camera.

“Dib…Zim is my date to the prom,” Gaz said hanging her head low.

Dib’s eyes grew wide.

“WHAT!? WHY!?” Dib shouted.

“Because he asked me and loves me Dib. I know he’s an alien and I can accept that. Please don’t do anything to him when he comes to pick me up. I love him and I know he loves me. PLEASE!?” Gaz said walking towards Dib.

Dib looked at the ground with sad eyes. He felt betrayed that his sister would go out with his enemy. Dib thought Zim would use her. Get her to do things that would help destroy the human race, but Dib thought about Gaz had acted the past few hours she had been home. She had acted so happy. Dib had never seen her this happy ever since mom died.

“Dib?” Gaz said wondering why he didn’t say anything.

“Does he make you happy?” Dib asked still looking at the ground.

“What?” Gaz asked confused.

“Does he make you happy?” Dib repeated looking up at her.

“Yes Dib. He makes me happy,” Gaz said while nodding.

“Then I’m fine with it,” Dib said giving a small smile.

Gaz had a huge smile on her face.

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” Gaz said happily while hugging her brother.

Dib almost fell back at the weight of his sister. Dib had a shocked look on his face. “Apparently she’s so happy she actually hugs me,” Dib thought happily as he hugged her back.

Just then the door bell rang.

“Gaz! Dib’s little foreign friend is here for you!” Professor Membrane shouted from downstairs.

Gaz’s heart raced. What would Zim think of her? Would she look good in his eyes? She didn’t know. Dib saw Gaz’s worried face.

“You want me to go down and talk to him? I promise I won’t do anything. I just want to get a few things straight. Ok?” Dib said letting go of her and heading for the steps.

Gaz nodded in reply. Dib headed down the steps and saw Zim on the couch. The flowers Gir had given him laid beside him. Zim turned his head to see Dib on the steps.

“Look Dib-stink I-”

“I don’t mind you dating Gaz, Zim,” Dib said cutting him off.

Zim looked at Dib in surprise.

“Really?” Zim asked getting up from the couch.

Dib nodded.

“She has been happier than I have ever seen her in years. I like to see her happy. There is just a good feeling in me when I see her happy. All I want you to do is just keep her that way. Ok Zim?” Dib asked looking at him.

“Ok Dib. I’ll keep Gaz happy,” Zim said while nodding.

“Good, but if you do anything to make her upset I will destroy you!” Dib said threateningly.

“Don’t worry, I won’t. I know if I make her upset she’ll destroy me before you do,” Zim said with a laugh.

Dib smiled. Upstairs Gaz heard the conversation and decided to join in. She slowly walked down the stairs and saw Zim in his tux. She looked at him in surprise. Zim saw Gaz and his eyes grew wide with surprise as well. His jaw dropped. Gaz saw he was as surprised as she was and blushed. Zim smiled and had sparkles in his eyes. Dib looked from Gaz to Zim and then back to Gaz.

“You guys ok?” Dib asked.

“We’re fine,” Gaz said still looking at Zim and coming down all the way.

Zim remembered the flowers Gir had given him to give to Gaz. He took them off the couch.

“These are for you. I believe they’re traditional for these kind of things,” Zim said handing them to Gaz.

Gaz blushed even more. Dib’s eyes grew wide in astonishment.

“They’re beautiful Zim!” Gaz said taking them.

“So are you,” Zim said examining her in the dress.

“I think I’m gonna be sick,” Dib said rolling his eyes.

Gaz gave Dib a look and Dib gave an ‘I’m only joking’ face.

“How about I take these and put them in a vase so they’ll be waiting here for when you get back?” Dib asked reaching for the flowers.

Gaz nodded and gave Dib the flowers. Zim held out his arm and Gaz linked her arm with his. Zim opened the door and they walked out together. Dib closed the door behind them. “I think they’ll make a pretty decent couple,” he thought.

Zim and Gaz walked to the school where the dance was taking place. They walked into the auditorium where it was being held. The place was decorated with pink, red, and white hearts and confetti. There was love music playing and teenagers dancing in the center of it all. The DJ was wearing white, pink, and red as well. There was disco ball that was shining all around. Gaz looked at Zim to see if he found all of it disgusting like he did before. Zim didn’t show a twinge of disgust.

“How about we get some punch?” Gaz asked.

Zim nodded and they headed for the punch table. Zim got two cups and pored some for the both of them. The girl from lunch and the halls came up to them.

“HI!” she said waving at them.

“Hello…” Zim said taking a sip.

“I see you guys made it!” She said happily.

“Yea….why do you care?” Gaz asked.

“I just always thought you guys would make a cute couple!” She said with a wide smile.

“Who are you?” Zim asked.

“My name is Amanda!” she said.

“Ok then. Well…it was nice meeting you,” Zim said trying to be nice.

“Nice to meet you too!” she said before running off.

Zim gave Gaz a ‘what was that about?’ face. Gaz shrugged. Soon the song kiss me was playing. Zim cleared his throat.

“Care to dance?” he asked holding up his hand.

“I would love to,” Gaz said taking his hand.

Zim led her out into the middle of the dance floor. Zim put his hands around her waist and she put her arms around his neck. Just then Amanda cut off the song. Everyone in the auditorium glared at her. Zim and Gaz wondered what she was doing. She put a different song on instead. One that suited Zim and Gaz better.

“Guess she really does think we would make an awesome couple” Zim said smiling down at Gaz.

Gaz smiled back and started to dance with him.

Zim and Gaz blushed. Zim leaned in and kissed her on the lips. Sparks filled the air. Everyone around them stopped to watch them. They continued to kiss. Amanda stood near the DJ’s table and watched them as the kissed. She smiled at the DJ and he smiled back at the accomplishment they had made of helping Zim and Gaz. The two parted and stared into each other’s eyes.

“This has been the greatest night of my entire life,” Gaz said soothingly.

“Same here,” Zim agreed.

Zim pressed his lips to hers once again and it was much longer than the ones they had before.
